Medical Massage is an outcome-based massage. Its focus is to find and address the cause of the problem and it’s primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem. Medical Massage is also known as Clinical Massage or Client Centered Massage.

Our Lead Massage Therapist, Silbia, is a Medical Massage specialist. She does an evaluation to understand your goals as the basis for the treatment. As part of the evaluation, it is important to communicate to the massage specialist any habits, daily routines, type of work/job you perform, exercise regimen, etc. This information is necessary to better allocate the root of the problem.

Medical Massage is a great complement to help:

  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Scoliosis
  • Kyphosis
  • Insomnia
  • Migraines
  • Physical Therapy and/or Chiropractic treatments

At Feeling Great, we specialize in the following conditions:

  • Tension Headaches
  • Neck Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Shooting Pain/Numbness Down the Arm
  • Upper/Lower Back
  • Hip Pain
  • Shooting Pain/Numbness Down the Leg (Sciatica)
  • Pain Down the Side of the Thigh (IT Band Syndrome)
  • Stiff Movement: Neck, Shoulder, Low-Back, and Hips.
  • Breaking down scar tissue to improve range of motion and flexibility.

The Massage Specialist will use the following as necessary:

  • Hot Therapy, used for chronic conditions. It helps loosen very tight muscles before massaging the area and getting to work.
  • Cold Therapy, used for acute conditions. It reduces inflammation caused by overworked muscles. If necessary, cold therapy is used right after hot therapy to help alleviate any soreness.
  • Percussive Therapy, used with the assistance of a massage gun (Theragun Pro) that aids the therapist to treat deep tissues. It helps relax tight muscles, breaks up scar tissue and adhesions, and it also minimizes muscle soreness and tension.
  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), used to reduce swelling.
  • Cupping Massage, used to reduce pain, inflammation, scar tissue and to improve blood flow.
  • Gua Sha, used to break adhesions and loosen up the fascia.

After the first session, the massage specialist will be able to guide you and come up with a treatment plan. This plan will include the frequency of follow-up massage therapy sessions and it will provide a list of exercises/activities you should do on your own to help your body recover and make treatment more effective.
